Telegram Bot Registration Statistics: What to Measure
Search results for “Telegram bot statistics” often discuss channel reach, engagement rate, reposts, and subscriber growth. Registration statistics answer a different question: how many people started your own bot, who was new, who returned, and which source brought them.
This is not channel reach or platform statistics
Channel analytics measures content and subscribers. Platform statistics describes Telegram as a whole. Registration statistics records events in one specific bot that people voluntarily started.
What counts as a registered user?
A registered user is a Telegram account that opened your bot and pressed Start for the first time. The bot stores the Telegram ID and available profile data. Group or channel members do not automatically enter this database.
First Start versus repeat Start
The first Start creates the registration. A later Start by the same Telegram ID is a repeat event, not another user. Keeping these counts separate prevents the user total from growing artificially.
Duplicate protection is not the same as a repeat Start
Several immediate clicks can be accidental duplicates. A meaningful later return through another link is a repeat START event. A sound system suppresses accidental noise without pretending that genuine later visits never occurred.
Why reporting periods matter
“All time” shows database size but hides recent movement. Compare today, yesterday, 7 days, 30 days, or a custom period to understand changes around campaigns and placements.
Sources in registration statistics
A Telegram deep link can carry a short start value. Separate links for a website, channel, partner, or campaign let you compare registrations by source. The full mechanism is covered in the source tracking article.
What these statistics do not show
They do not provide channel reach, engagement rate, purchases, revenue, customer acquisition cost, or ad ROI. Those require content analytics and later business data.
How to use the numbers
A drop in weekly registrations can prompt a check of links or placements. A consistently stronger source deserves closer review. More repeat events may mean people are returning through older links after a campaign.
How this works in Soft Lite Registration Bot
SL REG Bot is a Windows program connected to your own Telegram bot. While the bot runs through the program, it records first and repeat events and an available source. Existing data remains stored locally and available after the bot stops.
FAQ
Is this channel or bot statistics?
Bot registration statistics—not channel views or reach.
Does a repeat Start increase the user total?
No. It is stored separately.
Can this calculate engagement rate or purchase conversion?
No. It measures registrations, repeat events, periods, and sources.
Must the bot run continuously?
New events are received while it runs through the program; accumulated local data remains available afterward.
For deeper work with the accumulated user database, you can export it to Excel.
