How to Find a Telegram Bot ID
The most reliable method: open Soft Lite ID Bot, tap Bot → Select bot, and choose the account. Telegram sends its numeric ID to the bot.
You can also forward a message written by the bot. A username alone is not guaranteed to resolve an arbitrary bot because the Bot API does not expose a universal directory of other bots.
What is a Telegram bot ID?
A Telegram bot is technically represented by a Bot API User object. It has its own positive numeric User.id, while is_bot=true distinguishes it from a regular account.
The number can be used in access rules, membership checks, event records, and systems that store Telegram entities by numeric ID.
Method 1: select the bot
- Open @SoftLite_ID_bot.
- Tap Bot.
- Tap Select bot.
- Choose the required bot in Telegram’s selector.
Soft Lite ID Bot uses the official user selector with user_is_bot=true. It shows the Bot ID, name, available username, and object type.
Method 2: forward a message from the bot
Tap Bot and forward a message sent by the bot. If Telegram preserves a known user origin, Soft Lite ID Bot recognizes the User object as a bot and displays its ID.
A channel post, a message sent on behalf of a chat, or a hidden/protected origin may produce a channel result or no sender ID. Confirm that the result type says Bot.
Can you find a bot ID from @username?
Soft Lite ID Bot accepts a handle such as @ExampleBot or a public t.me/ExampleBot link, but a numeric result is available only if that bot is already known to the service, for example through selection or forwarding.
The Bot API does not give one bot a general-purpose method to retrieve every other bot’s User object by username. Use Select bot when you need a dependable result.
Bot username vs numeric ID
@ExampleBotis the public bot username used in profile links.1234567890is the numeric Bot ID stored inUser.id.
A username can change. The numeric identifier remains the Bot API identity. When a setting asks for bot_id or user_id, check whether it expects the number rather than a profile link.
Do not confuse the Bot ID with its token
A @BotFather token contains a numeric prefix, a colon, and a secret string. It grants control of the bot and must be kept private. A Bot ID is only an identifier and does not provide access.
Quick summary
- Reliable path: Bot → Select bot.
- Alternative: forward a message sent by the bot.
- Username lookup works only for an already known object and is not guaranteed for every bot.
- A Bot ID is neither its username nor its @BotFather token.
